ICE-NINE AWARD

Representing all life on the earth, THE NORTH FACE created the award for organizations contributing the most to the destruction of the environment while holding environmental protection. The name “Ice Nine(= the invention that could destroy the world)“ is taken from a science fiction novel by Kurt Vonnegut with the end of the world scenario. The 1st winner was The Atomic Energy Commission. The catalog published in 1975 points out various defects of nuclear power such as the impact of radiation from the waste and the risk of contingency.
