I left a note beside me
It read
“In case of loss
Please send home”

それゆえ自問する 「家とは何か......」
So I then asked myself “What is home..”
それは場所？
それは時間？
それは概念？
Is it a place?
Is it a time?
Is it an idea?
それはどこから始まるのか？
それはどこで終わるのか？
Where does it start?
Where does it end?
家は小川の上流の
小石からなる川床のそばにあるのか
家には幅300フィートの滝は含まれるだろうか
それも大量の水が雷鳴のように響きながら峡谷へと流れ落ちるような滝
家とはそれよりも広い大洋や海を覆うものなのか？
Is it beside a bed of pebbles
At the head of a small stream
Does it include the 300ft wide waterfall
With copious amounts of water thundering down into the ravine
Does home cover the wider oceans and seas?
家とは、山頂で感謝の念を感じる時間だろうか
氷点下の海を泳ぎながら人生の絶頂を感じる時間だろうか
あるいは空を見晴るかし、日の出を眺める時間だろうか？
Is it the time you felt gratitude while atop a mountain
When you felt at the peak of life swimming in a sub zero sea
Or is it the time you look across the skies and see the sun rise ?
おそらく家はそれら全てであり
あるいは、どれでもないかも知れない
なぜなら、実のところ万物は不変だからだ
時間
心模様
あるいは、 場所
Maybe it is all these things
Or possibly nothing at all
Because does anything truly remain the same
Time
Mind state
Or location
家はただあなたが頭を休める場所にも
自分の存在を確かめる場所にもなるだろう
Home can simply be where you rest your head
Or even where you place your feet
