ONE PRODUCT ONE TREE MEETS BACK TO SCHOOL CAMPAIGN

In March 2021, THE NORTH FACE held the “ONE PRODUCT ONE TREE meets BACK TO SCHOOL Campaign” to plant a tree for every product sold.
About 4,100 backpacks were sold through the campaign. This fall, THE NORTH FACE will plant about 4,100 trees in Japan in order to connect the choices of the purchasers to a better future. Of the 4,100 trees, about 4,000 will be planted in the “Mitsui Bussan Forest” in Numata, Hokkaido, in cooperation with Mitsui Bussan Forest Co. The remaining 100 trees will be planted by THE NORTH FACE staff and contracted athletes at Bosatsu Pass in Tanzawa, Kanagawa Prefecture.
On a sunny autumn day in late October, about 20 staff members and athletes arrived at the Tanzawa Forest. Under the guidance of the Tanzawa Nature Conservation Society, which organized the event, they planted seedlings of trees such as yamazakura (Cerasus jamasakura), mamezakura (Cerasus jamasakura), kuri (chestnut), maple, maple leaf, and nishiki-utsugi (Japanese angelica) on the mountain slope.
According to the organizer, it takes 100 to 200 years for the planted seedlings to grow into a forest. We hope that the seedlings we planted will grow properly. THE NORTH FACE would like to continue to watch over the forests of Tanzawa.
